Could you address the following questions... Does modern christianity derive from christ? Which christianity are you referring to? For are you not assuming that christianity is a homogenous philosophy. There are almost as many different christianities as there are christians (a bit of exageration for the purpose of making a point)

The game: Pick a Christian virtue, and then argue that Christianity is the source of all virtue because that specific Christian virtue is most manifest in Christianity. Christianity played a small part in the development of ethical thinking world-wide and throughout history. It has been associated with a atrophy in our concept of the good life, which is now much narrower that the idea of the ethical and good life exposited by Aristotle, for example. Other social forces are likely to have played a role also. Not only are Chirstian values derivative of the code of Hummarabi and Talmud, but I think that many of the ideas of Paul are in fact prejudiced, and the portrayal of women in the New Testament is abominable (Women should not speak in church or cut their hair). Please desist from your selective argument, and historical inaccuracy.

"Freedom of conscience" - an interesting concept coming from the religiously inclined! The direct implication from this freedom is of course that no two consciences need be the same - what one conscience finds moral or ethical may seem unethical to another. But if all valid moral teaching is revealed to each of us from the same single source or set of sources namely the bible and Jesus and if each of us allows his conscience to be guided by those teachings then would it not follow that we would each of us come to exactly the same conclusions? Where does freedom of conscience come into this? Is not freedom of conscience the freedom to choose from where we receive our teachings? Is it not the freedom to question the validity of the teachings or ethical concepts regardless of the source? The big question then becomes how and by which standard do we judge the quality of the teaching. In living the good life, is it necessarily so that God is the most reliable source of goodness? Is it not possible that we can

Whole range of ethical codes pre date Jewish faith or Jesus Christ. Virtue exists independently of any supernatural beings. Moral values are formed by human choice and the Bible are written by men.
