YOUTH & SCHOOLS SPEAKER
NATE ARMSBERRY

Schools are places where big questions surface every day – about identity, purpose, and what it means to live well in a changing world. Teachers and chaplains often guide conversations that stretch far beyond the curriculum, helping students make sense of their experiences and the culture they inhabit. With three decades of experience working with young people, Nate Armsberry is passionate about supporting schools in their ongoing work of formation.

As CPX’s Youth & Schools Coordinator, Nate has served as a teacher, youth pastor, and chaplain in both public and Christian settings. He has led student leadership programs, advised schools on complex cultural issues, and walked alongside teenagers through moments of doubt, discovery, and growth. This breadth of experience gives him a grounded understanding of the realities facing both staff and students.

Nate’s approach is practical, honest, and deeply relational. He engages students with stories that resonate, especially those who arrive with questions or scepticism. For teachers and chaplains, he offers clear frameworks for handling challenging topics in ways that build trust, reduce pressure, and open doors for meaningful dialogue.

Ultimately, Nate’s aim is to equip and encourage whole school communities. He shows that Christianity isn’t about withdrawing from the modern world but about meeting it with clarity, compassion, and hope; helping young people imagine what it looks like to live with resilience and purpose in the world they actually inhabit.

Nate is based in Newcastle.

PD - Answering Tricky Questions in the Classroom

Teachers and chaplains regularly face questions that are complex, sensitive, or emotionally charged – and it’s not always clear how to respond in ways that build trust rather than shut conversation down. This session helps staff handle difficult topics with clarity, humility, and confidence. Nate draws on decades of school experience to offer practical frameworks for navigating hot-button issues, reducing pressure to “have all the answers,” and turning confronting moments into opportunities for relationship, curiosity, and thoughtful engagement.

Faith in a Digital Age (Staff)

Today’s teenagers are shaped by algorithms, entertainment-driven media, and constant noise. These forces create new challenges around authority, trust, and attention – and they affect how young people hear and interpret spiritual ideas. This session helps staff understand the cultural environment their students inhabit and why certain messages land (or fall flat). Nate explores how story, credibility, and imagination shape faith in the digital landscape, and offers practical insights for communicating Christianity in ways that feel authentic, relevant, and genuinely compelling to young people.

Faith in a Complex World (Students)

Life for young people feels more chaotic and overwhelming than eversocial media, AI, world events, identity pressure, and constant distraction can make faith seem outdated or irrelevant. This session invites students to see the Bible not as a rulebook but as a story that speaks directly into today’s world. Through interactive discussion, cultural examples, and honest reflections on doubt and belief blockers, Nate shows how Jesus embodies compassion, justice, and courage. Students are encouraged to ask real questions, explore their own assumptions, and consider what it means to live faithfully and thoughtfully in a complex world.
