Out of all this long, sad, and difficult history, what white America could learn – and all Americans could learn – is the need to fight what King and others called the “giant triplets”. The giant triplets are racism, militarism, and extreme consumerism. And until we have learned to fight those and to overcome them, we as a society have not reached our potential.
