I think that there are certain tests that can be applied that one can use, perhaps, to judge the authenticity of one’s own Christianity. There are things that people are rather inclined to do now, like engage in slander [laughter], which I think some friendly person ought to point out to them is forbidden in a number of places [laughter].

God is the judge, you know, and how people are religious and how authentic their religion actually is and so on is something no one is competent to judge. But people are asked to judge themselves, and there’s a lot of, I think, crudeness and cruelty now associated with Christianity that ought to make certain people think deep thoughts.
