On the church’s mixed record on women

Well the Christian story these last 2,000 years has not always been positive. There have been opportunities and many of them have been missed, in terms of promoting women. I think sometimes Christians have instead reinforced a hierarchy of men and women, and have prevented women from full flourishing. But I think the gospel, in its fullest, does allow both women and men to reach their potential, and to have leadership possibilities within the community.
