The one thing I would recommend everyone do is don’t take the phone to bed. Don’t take the phone to bed. We need sleep; we don’t just need sleep we need deep rest, which means letting the work of being human go and just reflecting, trusting, relaxing, letting someone else handle the hard things of the world for a while. And when you take your phone to bed, you are inviting all the work of being human into bed with you – it’s going to disrupt your sleep, it’s going to prevent you from having any rest, and you’re actually going to become more and more anxious over time. So our family, for everybody – parents, kids, everybody – no phones in the bedrooms. It will really, really make for a healthier rhythm of life that allows when you are picking up the phone during the day for it to be a healthier thing.
