How were women viewed in early Christian faith and what was their relationship with the church?

Edwin Judge is regarded as one of the most important social historians of Christianity and one of Australia's leading intellectuals. After studying at Canterbury University, New Zealand, and Cambridge, England, he spent twelve years at Sydney University.He then accepted the inaugural History Chair in the field of Ancient History at Macquarie University where he initiated a collection of study materials, now enshrined in the Ancient History Documentary Research Centre.

He has been described as a turning point in scholarship and the new founder of what has come to be called the social-scientific criticism of the New Testament. A tally of his articles, reviews, occasional papers and other writings totals over 400.
